David Perkins and Steve Taylor are hanging up their headphones and unplugging their microphones after serving 4 decades at Unicorn Stadium. As the longstanding PA Announcers for New Braunfels High School football, they have created an unforgettable experience for Unicorn fans and athletes alike.

Their voices have become synonymous with the stadium, and their energy and enthusiasm have kept spirits high during some of the most important games. Their catchphrase, “Everyone stand up for this kickoff,” became a part of every game.

Perkins and Taylor were honored with a special presentation during the Unicorns’ home finale, a 45-15 win over San Marcos. Part of the presentation included submitted videos from current and former players.

NBHS graduate and current University of Southern California Quarterbacks Coach Kliff Kingsbury (Class of 1998) was among those who sent a video tribute.

“What a credit to our community, to that area and all the young people that you have helped mentor and raise, myself included,” Kingsbury said. “We love you and thank you for all of your time served.”

Current players Lance Beeghley and D’Andre Davis also thanked the announcers on behalf of all of the current and former players.
