NBISD announces 2023-24 campus Teachers of the Year

New Braunfels Independent School District (NBISD) is proud to announce the outstanding educators who have been selected as this year’s Campus Teachers of the Year, celebrating their dedication to student success. 

These remarkable teachers are being recognized for their contributions to their campuses and now will be considered for NBISD Elementary or Secondary Teacher of the Year. Those who are named as district teachers of the year will move onto the regional competition, where they aim to distinguish themselves further with the ultimate award of being honored as a Texas Teacher of the Year. 

 Elementary

Carl Schurz – Lymari Gaddis, Fourth Grade Teacher – Dual Language              

County Line – Brandie Luce, Kindergarten Teacher

Klein Road – Kathryn Green, First Grade Teacher

Lamar – Melanie Ugoletti, Second Grade Teacher

Lone Star – Marcie Rolandt, Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Memorial – Jennifer Reimann, Kindergarten Teacher

Seele – Keivan Clark, Physical Education Teacher

Veramendi – Leah Cash, Instructional Coach

Voss Farms – Katherine Jennings, Kindergarten Teacher

Walnut Springs – Nikki Hutchison, First to Fifth Grade Life Skills/Special Education – Autism

Secondary

New Braunfels Middle School – Francisco Dionisio, Eighth Grade Social Studies Teacher

Oak Run Middle School – Lexy West, Seventh Grade Reading Language Arts Teacher

Ninth Grade Center – Stacie Rodriguez, Ninth Grade Center Biology Teacher

New Braunfels High School – Melissa Zúñiga, Ninth to Twelfth Grade English as a Second Language

The Teacher of the Year recognition program is intended to honor excellence in the classroom and provide a forum to showcase outstanding educators whose efforts have inspired their students, their colleagues and the community they serve. All recipients must:

  •       demonstrate outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching
  •       take an active role in their communities as well as their schools
  •       be professional, poised and articulate
  •       inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities
  •       be skillful, dedicated teachers who plan to actively continue classroom teaching

The announcement for the District’s Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year will be made during this year’s Excellence Awards, which will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at the McKenna Events Center.
