Leadership Academies

The NBISD Leadership Academies
are professional development opportunities for those who aspire to become a Principal or Assistant Principal.

Learning designed with a focus on developing and enhancing leadership skills and knowledge rooted in NBISD’s Mission, Vision and Core Beliefs.

Aspiring Principal Academy (APA)

This academy prepares professional educators to take on the role of principal, and also helps them grow in the areas of campus culture, personnel and the NBISD Strategic Plan. The APA will meet once a month for seven, half- day sessions during the school day as a cohort. The APA is facilitated by NBISD’s School Leadership Department and allows aspiring Principals to learn alongside professionals from across the district.

Current or former Assistant Principals/Associate Principals

  • Applications Due Friday, August 30, 2024
  • Selections made & notification sent by Friday, September 13, 2024

In-Person Meeting Dates (1:00-4:00pm)

  • October 2
  • November 6
  • December 4

  • February 12
  • March 12
  • April 9

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a strong desire to be a campus Principal
  • Must exemplify NBISD’s Mission, Vision and Core Beliefs
  • A minimum of two years experience as a campus administrator
  • A master’s degree with valid administrator certification
  • A completed application submitted by Friday, September 13, 2024,  that includes the following uploads:
    1.  Video
    2. Current resume
    3. Letter of recommendation from your current campus principal

Aspiring Assistant Principal Academy (APPA)

The Aspiring Assistant Principal Academy is designed to provide leadership development and readiness skills to NBISD staff members who aspire to become an administrator.  The AAPA will meet once a month for six, half-day sessions during the school year as a cohort. The AAPA is facilitated by NBISD’s School Leadership Department and allows teachers and other professional staff to learn alongside peers from across the district.
