New Braunfels ISD recently announced that the district logo has changed due to the oncoming opening of Long Creek High School.
The previous district logo included a Unicorn in the design and with Long Creek being the Dragons, the logo needed to be one that did not include a mascot. The district selected a logo that has been seen around NBISD for many years as the district seal. It has even been represented in the boardroom, on transportation vehicles and even some district buildings.
Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury wanted to be sure that the community was informed about what went into the decision to select the logo and color of Carolina Blue to represent NBISD.
“Long Creek High School is opening next school year, and for the first time in school district history we will have two high schools,” she said. “And because of this, the district needs an overarching, neutral logo. This decision was not taken lightly, and we had a committee of district staff who worked together to decide the logo that will represent our district.”
This logo mainly will be used by central office staff in the form of letterheads and on shirts. The design also includes alternate logos with gradient shades of blue, all centered around the star.
Community members should note that the Unicorns are not going anywhere. New Braunfels High School and schools on the west side of Interstate 35 will be Unicorns, while those to the east will be represented by the Dragons of Long Creek High School.
