After a successful district season, the New Braunfels High School football team is heading into the playoffs on a 4-game winning streak.

The Unicorns closed out district play edging out Judson 37-35 as senior quarterback Leighton Adams rushed for a touchdown as time expired. The win secured a second-place finish in district for New Braunfels, just behind Steele.

The opening round of the playoffs will see the Unicorns playing a somewhat familiar foe in San Antonio Johnson. The two teams played in the bi-district round in 2021 with the Unicorns coming away with a thrilling 51-45 victory.

New Braunfels heads into the playoffs with a 4-1 record in district play and a 6-4 overall record. Johnson only lost to Reagan during the district season and has an overall record of 9-1.

The game is set to be played at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets will be $8 for adults and $4 for students and will be sold online only. North East ISD has a clear bag policy and fans will be required to go through a metal detector prior to entering the stadium.
