New Braunfels ISD is pleased to announce Adam Harvey will be the first head football coach and boys athletic coordinator at Long Creek High School.
“As a proud New Braunfels resident and a firm believer in the excellence of NBISD, I am elated to be named the first Head Football Coach and Boys’ Athletic Coordinator for Long Creek High School,” Harvey said. “I am eager to enhance the new wave of achievement with the Dragons, while also embracing the rich traditions and successes of NBISD.”
Harvey will lead the Dragons football team after spending the last two seasons as the co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Clemens High School. His defense yielded 18 interceptions and nine fumbles, while allowing only 180 yards passing per game. Five of the eight defensive backs that he coached were named to the all-district team. At Clemens, he also coached the long and triple jump in track.
Prior to his time with the Buffaloes, Harvey was the defensive coordinator for Hutto High School (2020-22) and helped them transition into Class 6A. He also was the head track and field coach and an assistant basketball coach during his time there.
He spent seven years (2013-20) as a co-defensive coordinator at Steele High School before his time in Hutto. Harvey coached in a state championship game during the Knights’ 2016 season. During his time in Cibolo, Steele had an overall record of 78-19. While at Steele, he also served as the head track and field coach for five years.
Harvey has coached many Division-I collegiate and NFL athletes throughout his career. He also has spoken at numerous clinics and is a Texas High School Coaches Association R.O.C.K mentor and the skills and drills chair for the American Football Coaches Association.
“Coach Harvey has a terrific coaching resume in multiple sports, but aside from coaching he will lead our student-athletes to be great people first, great students and great athletes,” said Richard Mendoza, NBISD athletic director. “His mentorship and relationship building skills will be vital as we grow Long Creek athletics.”
Harvey and his wife, Lindsey, have two sons Kael (9th Grade) and Avryn (6th Grade).
“The Harvey family is overwhelmed with excitement by this opportunity,” he said. “We are ecstatic about the new beginning and being an integral part of the history of this storied school district.”
