The second annual Jimmy K Classic girls basketball tournament is set to get underway in New Braunfels from Nov. 30 – Dec. 2.

The tournament will be held mainly at Canyon High School with New Braunfels High School hosting games only on Dec. 2. The namesake of the tournament, Jimmy Keresztury, was a coach at Canyon before becoming the head girls basketball coach at New Braunfels High School in 2020. He suddenly passed away in 2022.

The tournament includes 15 teams from across Texas. The Lady Unicorns will be in Pool 2 along with Boerne Champion, A&M Consolidated, Round Rock and San Antonio MacArthur. Canyon will be in Pool 1 with Cedar Creek, Elgin, Leander Rouse and San Antonio Churchill. Pool 3 will include Smithson Valley, San Antonio Antonian, Liberty Christian, Leander and San Marcos.

Games will get underway at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30. One of those games will include the Lady Unicorns as the team will face off against Champion in Canyon Aux Gym.

The Lady Unicorns will play a second game that day against MacArthur at 3 p.m. in the same gym. Friday’s games will include a matchup between New Braunfels and A&M Consolidated in Canyon’s Aux Gym. The final day of competition will see the Lady Unicorns at home against Round Rock at 10:30 a.m.
