New Braunfels ISD is thrilled to announce the successful passage of the $313 million bond referendum in the May 4, 2024 election. With support from the community, every campus within NBISD will be impacted as a result of this bond, which will enhance educational opportunities and safety for all students.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to our community for prioritizing NBISD students and for their support in passing this bond,” said NBISD Superintendent Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury. “The students of our wonderful district will see these funds at work on their campuses for years to come!”

Among items included in this bond will be the enhancement of school safety and security as well as provide upgrades and additions to existing facilities, Phase 2 of the New Braunfels High School replacement project and Dragon Stadium at Long Creek High School.

Projects included in this year’s bond will get underway in the coming months.

This bond program was based on the recommendations of the Bond Planning Committee and district administration. The Bond Planning Committee formed in 2023 with nearly 80 community members, business owners, parents and non-parents.

By law, the ballot included three separate propositions: Proposition A – Facilities, Proposition B – Stadiums, and Proposition C – Technology.

Proposition A

Projects for this proposition are estimated to cost $267,500,000. Prop A projects are phase 2 of the New Braunfels High School replacement project. It also includes agricultural science facility upgrades; school safety and security projects at every campus; playground equipment and sun shades; fine arts and band equipment; major maintenance projects; and bus replacements.

Proposition B

The Long Creek High School stadium project was included in the 2024 package. This stadium will be utilized by many different student groups including athletics, fine arts and other student organizations. There also will be some funds to make upgrades at Unicorn Stadium including turf replacement and upgrades to the press box, lighting and sound system. These projects are estimated to cost $42.500,000.

Proposition C

Proposition C consists of the continuation of the district’s comprehensive plan to refresh student iPads, staff hardware and network hardware. The proposed projects are expected to cost $3,000,000.

Tax Rate

The 2024 Bond had no tax rate increase for NBISD constituents.
