The NBISD Administration is excited to announce that Jonathon Campbell has been named the next principal of New Braunfels Middle School.
Campbell most recently served as an Assistant Principal at San Antonio Johnson High School in North East ISD (NEISD) for the last three years. He served the Class 6A High School by building strong relationships throughout the school community.
“I am honored to be the next principal at New Braunfels Middle School. The opportunity to join NBISD is a dream fulfilled,” Campbell said. “I look forward to engaging with the community and empowering our students to develop the skills needed to be successful in middle school and beyond.”
Campbell holds more than 10 years of experience as an Assistant Principal, including more than seven of those years at Tex Hill Middle School in North East ISD (NEISD) and Wallace Middle School in Hays CISD. Before becoming an assistant principal, he served as a school improvement coach and as a Math and English teacher and coach at the same campus. He started his career in education in 2006 as a campus substitute at Langford Elementary School in Austin ISD.
Campbell holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Relations from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Campbell holds Texas Educator certifications as a principal and teacher in English Language Arts and General Studies.
As an experienced educator, Campbell boasts several achievements, some of his most notable include being selected for the Bexar Regional Principal Readiness Education Program (2017-2018); Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) trainer for NEISD new teacher orientation; Co-coordinator for the NEISD Middle School Assistant Principal Cohort (2018-2019); and as a participant in the Trinity Advanced Placement Cohort (2019-2020).
“Principal Campbell joins us with over a decade of middle school experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to lead the NBMS team,” said Dr. Jennifer Garcia-Edwardsen, NBISD’s Chief of Schools. “Jonathon brings the ability and experience to streamline and successfully prepare students from the middle to high school levels. His calm presence and passion for the NBMS students and community will be a great addition to the NBISD community.”
Campbell and his wife Chasity have been married for three years. Together, they have a blended family of five children ranging from 2nd grade to a recent college graduate. NBISD is delighted to welcome Campbell, and he will assume his new role today, July 12.
