New Braunfels ISD Administration is pleased to announce that Paul E. McLarty has been named the new Chief Financial Officer.

“I am so excited to be joining the outstanding New Braunfels ISD team,” said McLarty. “The rich tradition and outstanding academic success of this district, and the opportunity to contribute to its future success, literally brought me out of retirement. I look forward to meeting the entire team, and community, when I start July 12th”

McLarty brings over 44 years of finance experience to NBISD. Before entering the education sector, he began his career as an Accounting Analyst. He then began developing his leadership skills by taking on manager and vice president roles at private and public sector organizations.

In 2000, McLarty entered the education sector and took on executive leadership roles for sizable school districts including Galveston ISD, Goose Creek CISD and Clear Creek ISD, the 27th largest school district in the state of Texas, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Business and Support Services managing a staff of nearly 1,000 employees and developing extensive budgets.

McLarty retired from Clear Creek ISD in 2022, and began serving as a Policy and Research Associate for the Texas Association of School Business Officials. Nearly a year later, he has now decided to join NBISD as the Chief Financial Officer.

McLarty holds a MBA in Finance from University of Houston, and received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University. McLarty holds numerous Texas school business certifications and has won budgeting awards from the Government Finance Officers Association and the Association of School Business Officials International.

In his new position, McLarty will be responsible for directing and managing the operation of all financial and business affairs of the district including accounting, payroll, purchasing, risk management, and tax collection. He will also serve as the chief financial adviser to the superintendent and board of trustees.

“McLarty will be a huge asset to our district’s leadership team. He will continue to ensure our district’s financial success while improving on areas with a knowledgeable approach,” said Dr. Laurelyn Arterbury, Superintendent of NBISD. “His leadership background and extensive experience makes him an exceptional choice for the role of Chief Financial Officer.”
