Yates raced through the aisles, loading her shopping carts as her co-workers along with H-E-B employees cheered her on. The official time keeper also was letting her know how much time she had left throughout the 90 seconds. As the clock ticked, she pulled item after item off the racks, switching carts to maximize the number of supplies she collected. Yates even had a little help filling her baskets as H-E-B employees dumped supplies in as she passed them.
After the 90 seconds elapsed, Yates threw her hands in their air with joy as the crowd cheered. H-E-Buddy, the store’s mascot, showed up to take pictures with Yates and others.
The group then headed to the cash register to see what the total cost was. The cash register was decorated with colorful balloons and school bus decor. The employee ringing up the items was also a surprise for Yates. Unbeknownst to either of them, the cashier, Kendall, and Yates were childhood friends.
