It was a historic night for the Unicorn boys basketball program!

The team set the school record for wins in a season as New Braunfels upended district rival Judson 63-43 in the regular season finale.

The Unicorns (30-4, 9-1) passed last year’s team for wins in a season (29). This is the first time in school history that the boys basketball team has reached 30 wins in a season.

New Braunfels secured its first district championship in three decades after defeating San Marcos 69-45 on Feb. 9.

With the top spot in district secured, the Unicorns will look to make a deep run into the playoffs behind their senior leadership, including Lance Beeghley. Beeghley poured in 17 in the win over the Rockets in which he surpassed 1,000 points for his career as a Unicorn.

The Unicorns will face the fourth place team from Class 6A District 28. Last year’s team made it to the area round, coming up just short of Buda Johnson.

Game time, opponent and location is to be determined.
