The Class 6A District 27 cross country meet included a New Braunfels High School sweep.

Both the girls and boys teams brought home the gold medals from the event, which was held on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Seguin. On the girls side, Savannah Moya won the gold with a time of 19:15.6. Leading the way for the boys was Ethan Stutts who placed third overall with a time of 16:47.6.

Up next, both teams will be heading to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, which is the site of the regional championship. That meet will be held on Oct. 23. A strong showing at regionals could lead to state berths for the Unicorns cross-country team. State is scheduled to be held in Round Rock at the beginning of November.

The girls team consists of Moya, Payton Gibson, Abigail Nuckels, Lola Daffin, Ava Briley, Rebecca Zuniga and Mara Fulmer. The boys side is made up of Stutts, Max Blanchett, Wyatt Middleton, Cade Roushelang, Jesus Moya, Carson Pair and Christian Lopez Lopez.
