It will be a battle between top 25 teams when the New Braunfels Unicorns meet up with Lake Travis in the area round of the UIL basketball playoffs.

New Braunfels comes in at No. 17 in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches rankings, Lake Travis is one spot ahead at No. 16.

The Unicorns head into the game coming off a first-place finish in district and a bi-district championship, in which the team defeated San Antonio Lee by a score of 54-32 at Pieper High School on Feb. 20.

The area round game will be played at Lehnman High School in Kyle on Friday, Feb. 23. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Cavaliers enter the game with a 30-5 record, while the Unicorns continue to build on a school record in wins at 31-4. The winner will advance to the regional quarterfinals to face the winner of an area round matchup between Buda Johnson and East Central.
