New Braunfels High School standout track-and-field athlete Ella Vajdos brought home her second consecutive bronze medal in the pole vault from the state track meet. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) track meet was held on May 13 at the University of Texas.
Vajdos tied for second place, clearing a height of 13’3 feet. However, she was edged out in the tiebreaker by Jacqui Rose of Keller. Skyler Schuller of Coppell cleared 13’6 feet to win the gold. Earlier this season, Vajdos set personal and school records by clearing 13’3.5.

As Vajdos is set to graduate, she already has committed to pole vault at Texas A&M University. In addition to back-to-back bronze medals, she was a district champion during her sophomore, junior and senior years. The Texas High School Coaches Association also named her to the Academic All-State Second Team for Track this year.
